BEHIND the LENS

To me, photography is the art of remembering — of creating something that feels as real in 40 years as it does today. I’m a West Coast wedding and elopement photographer, blending guided posing, natural prompts, and candid storytelling to capture love in all its forms. Influenced by film, nostalgia, and the quiet beauty of human connection, my work is cinematic yet deeply personal — art you can hold in your hands.

MEET your PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m Svanna — a photographer, fighter (literally), wife, and mama who believes your photos should feel like you. I’m very much a “go with the flow, coastal vibes” type of person. I know that no wedding or session will go perfectly — but that’s kind of the beauty of it. Things might get clunky, something unexpected might happen, but how you react to it is what really shapes your memories. And no matter what, at the end of the day, you get to go home with your best friend.

I almost always cry during vows, I’ll squat into the weirdest angles to get the shot, and I have a habit of saying “just one more” and then taking 15 more photos. I’ll shoot through leaves, shoulders, or anything else I can find — because even an ordinary moment can be made visually interesting.

LIFE OUTSIDE THE CAMERA

MOM, WIFE, COMBAT SPORTS

When I’m not photographing love stories, you’ll find me hanging out with my daughter, building elaborate Magna-Tile castles or animals, and watching her little brain light up with creativity. I’m also seven years into the honeymoon phase with my husband, Vaughn. We got married in 2020 and he’s still my best friend, greatest support, and my biggest cheerleader — you might even see him second shooting with me.

I’m just as passionate about my other job — kickboxing. I coach, train, and compete (yes, I’ve been kicked in the head a few times). When I’m not cueing connection between couples, I’m dodging punches, chasing new fight goals, and working on my dream projects — like opening a coffee shop/creative space, starting a gym clothing line, and maybe one day retiring in Italy to soak up all the art.

THE RAW MATERIALS OF PHOTOGRAPHY ARE LIGHT AND TIME AND MEMORY

What Drives Me

Keith Carter's quote captures the essence of what I strive to achieve in every image. Light brings warmth and depth, shaping each moment with natural beauty. Time, always fleeting, makes every photograph precious—a sliver of life held still. And memory—this is the heart of it.

For me, photography is about preserving these memories in a way that feels genuine and alive, allowing you to step back into those moments and feel them just as vividly as the day they were captured.

WHY COUPLES LOVE WORKING WITH ME

I’m a problem-solver at heart. No problem is too big to find a solution, and I bring a calm, grounded energy to every wedding day. I love people, and I can always find common ground with anyone I meet — it’s one of my favorite things about this job. I believe in creating an environment where you can truly relax and be yourself, knowing I’ve got the details handled. I’ve never had a client walk away bored; even the most reluctant or anxious people end up saying how much fun they had just being with their person or their kids. At the end of the day, my goal is for you to not only love your photos, but to love the memories of making them. And if we can share a few laughs along the way, even better.
